A worldcup match, 100 guys and a TV!

It was march and the long awaited cricket world cup started.

I don't know why, but ever since i was in the lower primary classes, world cup always happen when we are all close to our final exams. (Hmm...oh God...have I ever complained 'bout this? i have forever closed my books to watch some of my favorite matches....Why are you doing this to me again and again ICC?)

Talking about my cricket frenzy...i had been an avid cricket fan and viewer since childhood...but i stopped watching them since the great match fixing scandal in 2k. Ever since i have been an anti-Indian team supporter.

Now let me brief my life in my hostel. i belonged to the great Mens Hostel-III of NSS engg. college. later...after 18 months my parents realised i was not the man to be in a crowded hostel when i easily get distracted by the smallest of happenings and a couple of supplementaries threatened my engineering studies..i was shifted to an outside hostel with immediate effect from the announcement of results. i naturally opted for a hostel which was nearest to the MH. there my new life started.....

I was an aspiring TV room resident in the MH and the absence of a TV in my new hostel made me lose my sleep...it was then when i planned to buy a tiny TV collecting money from all the residents(Though eventually I bought all those shares)...

Let me now go back to the eventful night when Bangladesh made India get their return tickets...The match started and and I was there cheering all the Bangladeshi 'kids'...Indians were giving off runs and i was sooo happy....It was then when my hostelmates started turning hostile....I suddenly turned out to be the lone supporter of poor Bangladesh men and those around me were about to kill me out of rage for hurting their so called PATRIOTISM! May be we didn't notice...but there was so much noise from the hostel.

To make things worse our house owner...a violent, valient lady....(for all those who have read 'Balarama' in their childhood.....we call her 'Dakini' with all our "LOVE".) turned up and screamed @ us with all of her lungs. And we just kept mum...!!! Geeee...!!

And whats worse...there was no cable connection to the TV in the morning. We concluded...'Dakini' has cut our beloved cable forever...i was blamed for all the fuss....all of it....i sat there rubbing my fingers.....not knowing what to do.....

Half a day passed with some of the guys avoiding me and showing their swollen faces at me....i was kind of sick...Then...came the cable.....it was just another maintenance work with the service providers....

Now my point is....do the indian cricketers deserve to be idolised to this level? they play ****ing cricket and still stay iconic....See the problems they create to all 'we'(?) Bangladeshi fans?

And after this episode of troubles....i lost all my appreciation towards those indians who become patriots only when there are cricket matches or when the Pakistanis drop a couple of shells @ the Kashmir border.

Patriotism is not seasonal....its within u and your friend's heart is not the best place to paste it on.......
